Op-Ed: Support Local, Shop Local

Remember the Elwood Ave Business District, which has seen less commerce this holiday due to Con Ed construction, the town supervisor says.

Many local businesses rely on the holiday season to help bolster their income and ease the burden of inflation and unexpected costs. The holidays often help local businesses from raising prices for their customers. One area hit particularly hard this season is the Elwood Ave Business District in Hawthorne which has seen less commerce due to increased construction from Con Edison, who is making much needed infrastructure work on their gas mains.

After visiting the area a few times this week, I felt it would be helpful to remind our wonderful town to consider visiting some of the great businesses down there.

They have a lot of great options ranging from delis like Pop's Deli and Railway Cafe & Grill, liquor stores like Hawthorne Wine & Spirits, barber shops and salons like Hawthorne's Finest and Salon 141 and so much more.

Consider stopping down on Elwood Ave to visit some of our great businesses in town. Your patronage will be especially helpful as they undergo infrastructure work.
