Pace Athletes Read To Pleasantville Pupils

From Pace University: Fifty Pace University student-athletes and staff members visited the Bedford Road School in Pleasantville on March 1 to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday and promote National Read Across America Day.

Arriving at around 9:30 a.m., Pace student-athletes joined different elementary classes to read books to students and talk about what it is like to be a student-athlete at Pace.

"Visiting the Bedford School was an extremely rewarding experience," said Junior Emma Carruth of Pace’s softball team. "The kids had the biggest smiles on their faces when they saw two college softball players walk into their classrooms to read to them. Not only did I get the opportunity to make their day, but they made mine as well."

Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2—Dr. Seuss' birthday. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together children and teens to appreciate reading.
