Pace Softball Team Races for the Cure
The softball team's efforts will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace University Softball team participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure for a fourth straight year on Sunday, Sept. 9. The Susan G. Komen foundation is the leading breast cancer researcher and fundraiser in the world. The foundation has raised over $1.9 billion since the foundation inception in 1982. The event was held in New York's famed Central Park.
The Komen foundation brings together breast cancer survivors and activists to empower people, save lives and ensure quality care for all. In 1982, Susan G. Komen for the Cure® launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.

The Setters return a trio of Northeast-10 Conference All-League selections in sophomores Natalie Gellos (Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy), Jeane Drury (Flanders, NJ/Morris Catholic) andHana Wright (Hillsboro, OR Valley Catholic). Gellos finished the 2012 season with a .351 average with 12 doubles, three homeruns and 26 RBI's. Drury batted .333 with nine homeruns and 26 RBI's. Wright set the single season school record with 10 homeruns, while leading the team with 39 RBI's. On the mound, Caitlin McCann (San Mateo, CA/Notre Dame) finished with an 11-5 record with six complete games and posted a 3.36 ERA with 41 strikeouts. Senior Chelsea Shea (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) led the team with 49 strikeouts along with six wins and a 2.97 ERA in 2012. Pace kicks off their 2013 season on the road at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, NC on Friday, March 1 at 12 p.m.
