John and his wife, Jean, are longtime Pleasantville residents. John has served in the private and public sectors of law for the community.

From PCTV:

The 3rd annual PCTV Gala Fundraiser took place on Saturday, April 16th at the C.V. Rich Mansion, 305 Ridgeway, White Plains, NY.

This year John Nonna was honored. John and his wife, Jean, have lived in Pleasantville for almost 39 years and have four children. John has combined the private practice of law with public service beginning as an acting village justice in Pleasantville from 1982-1989. He went on to serve as trustee and mayor for 13 years from 1990-2003.

During his tenure as mayor, he fostered open government and citizen participation in government. Through the volunteerism of the citizens of Pleasantville, downtown Pleasantville was revitalized with the Jacob Burns Film Center, the Pleasantville Farmers' Market and successful businesses. A public-private partnership resulted in the construction of Ashbourne Hall which provided the village with affordable housing for senior citizens and a senior center.

And, of course, PCTV was launched during John's tenure as mayor. John then served in the Westchester County Board of Legislators where he chaired the legislation committee and enacted ethics reform and term limits through bi-partisan cooperation.

John has been in private law practice for over thirty years. He is currently co-managing partner of the New York Office of Squire Patton Boggs, an international law firm. He was named a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in recognition of his success as a trial lawyer.

More recently, John has been engaged in public service through not for profit organizations. He currently serves as co-chair of the board of directors of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights under Law which was founded by President Kennedy in 1963 to enlist the leading lawyers in the country to provide pro bono legal work to achieve equal justice for African Americans and other minorities.
