Phelps Corn Roast & More This Saturday
Grilling and serving 450 free cobs of corn to shoppers while supplies last

EVENTFUL MARKET
With an impressive harvest rolling in, and multiple, exciting events planned, the Pleasantville Farmers Market will definitely present an event-FULL morning Saturday. And the Labor Day Weekend weather looks beautiful, setting the stage for some really nice days to grill outdoors. Grilling will be happening at the Market too, with our Annual Phelps Corn Roast. As a customer appreciation event, 450 fresh picked cobs of corn, shucked before the Market opens, will be grilled and offered free to shoppers until supplies run out. Master Storyteller, Jonathan Kruk, will make his annual visit to tell enchanting, interactive tales in the Kids area. Our Market Nutritionist Marina Stopler will host a “Let’s Talk” event with ideas for healthy meals for kids heading back to school. And our Music @ the Market will be an energetic romp through Dixieland with the Bottoms Up Dixieland Jazz Band. Come early, stay late, the whole morning at the Market will be great.

Annual Phelps Corn Roast This Saturday
450 ears of just picked corn will be generously supplied by Gajeski Produce and Mead Orchards early Saturday morning. Those get shucked, by a hardcore team of volunteers, to be ready for the grill by 10am. That is when the Roasted Corn King (Mr. Pono Wong), will begin grilling and serving plain or buttered cobs of corn to the first 450 takers, all for just the price of a smile! Be sure to thank Gajeski Produce and Mead Orchards by purchasing some of their wonderful, late summer produce (especially corn) and fruit.
This week’s Phelps Health Tip:
Sure, Clean Off The Grill And Invite Some Friends
“Healthy fats like monounsaturated fat, polyunsaturated fat and omega-3 fatty acids are found in fish, grass-fed beef and the Market’s farm-raised chickens.”
Just the kind of healthy advice we want to hear before a weekend of firing up the grill. Stop by Pura Vida Fisheries for seafood. Check out Yellow Bell Farm or Campanelli’s Poultry Farm to weigh your poultry options. And Kiernan Farms and Cowberry Crossing Farm are well stocked in grass fed beef with a large variety of cuts available for the Labor Day grill.

Peppers, Squash, Eggplants (& More) For the Grill
J&A Farm notes that their Shishito peppers are terrific when grilled - resulting in a sweet, citrusy flavor. While you’re at it try our farmers’ scallions, garlic, summer squash and eggplants on the grill as well.
Spice Revolution Grilling Spices
Stop by to review their featured Cherrywood Smoked sea salt, and Salt-free Abodo, both great for end of summer grilling. They’ll also have Cyprus Lemon sea salt for enjoyment of Market heirloom tomatoes.
Pickle Licious Sauerkraut Sale
Sausages from Kiernan Farms or Cowberry Crossing Farm go better with great sauerkraut. Pickle Licious is running a special on their sauerkraut this Saturday as customers prepare their BBQ menus for the Holiday weekend. Quart size only $6.00 a container (usually $8.00).
