The Pleasantville High School Boys’ Winter Track team won its first-ever league championship on Sunday, January 19, in New York City. With seven schools competing, the Panthers won nine of ten running events and outscored the second place team by over 50 points. Eleven team members - Andrew DeRose, Anthony Godino, Eric Hughes, Owen McAndrew, Aidan McDermott, Declan McDermott, Tyler Ossowski, Kevin Proctor, Patrick Watts, Eli Waxler and JC Yahia - were named to the All League First Team. Also, freshman Kayla Proctor (Girls’ Winter Track team member) earned All League Honorable Mention for her second place finish in the long jump. In only its second year of existence, the boys’ team is currently ranked eleventh in New York State for Class B and will be competing in several championship-level meets over the next few weeks.
