Weather Watching For This Saturday

Pleasantville Farmers Market and its producers are evaluating Saturday's weather forecast. Currently, cold temperatures and some wind are setting up challenging conditions. We will publicize our plan Thursday. Here's the details on our process so you know how to make your plans:
- A "go / no go" weather call will be communicated in a second newsletter by Thursday, midday.
- The decision will also be posted to the homepage at www.pleasantvillefarmersmarket.org
- If weather permits, we will run the Market. Thus please go ahead and place preorders as those will be key to getting in and out on a cold morning, and help make your producer's trip worth its challenges.
- If the Market plans to open, and a vendor knows in advance they're unable to attend, we'll email affected customers Thursday who have placed preorders with that vendor, alerting them of any items removed from orders. This process occurs before any charges are run on credit cards.
- If the Market is unable to open, all preorders will be cancelled, occurring before any charges are made.

As we contend with Omicron in the latest COVID-19 challenge:
- All vendors, volunteers and staff will wear masks.
- Unvaccinated shoppers are required to mask while shopping.
- It's recommended that ALL shoppers mask while at the Market (regardless of vaccination status, and including children ages 3+).
- All shoppers are requested to maintain physical distancing in the marketplace.
Avoid the Market if you're sick. Especially so if you exhibit any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus (temperature of 100° or above, a cough, a sore throat, shortness of breath). The New York State Department of Health has set up a hotline at (888) 364-3065 where Department of Health experts are available to answer questions regarding COVID-19.
PARKING OPTIONS
Click here for directions to the outdoor Market. Do you know the "hidden parking lots of Pville"? There are 8 parking lots within a few blocks of the Market, with over 400 parking spaces available - plus metered street parking throughout the Village. Review them all by clicking here to view a summary of parking lot locations.
Pango! The Village of Pleasantville has introduced a smartphone app as an option to pay for all metered and pay station parking in Pleasantville. Visit Pango to download the free Pango app for iPhone or Android devices, and follow the prompts to set up an account and method of payment. Parking meters have stickers (and QR codes) that indicate the parking zone—and parking lots have signs posted with zone numbers. There is a 16% service fee charged by Pango. The app will deliver a reminder message five minutes before time expires, and (in most locations) time can be extended via the app.

Phelps Health Tip:
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "During the cold days of winter you should consider eating more carbohydrates like those from root vegetables – they help the body to sustain a little more weight, which is needed to insulate against the cold weather. Warming vegetables like potatoes, cabbages, carrots, onions, rutabagas, and winter squash all store well in cool, dark places, and can provide energy and comfort throughout the winter season".
VENDOR HIGHLIGHTS
(Weather permitting...)

Whitecliff Vineyards will go heavy on the reds this week, since they are a comforting accompaniment to your dinner in winter weather.
