Pleasantville Among Best Public Elementary Schools: New Rankings Released For 2018

PLEASANTVILLE, NY — Excellent schools are one of the main reasons people move to the Hudson Valley. Niche.com released its annual rankings of the best schools in the country this week, as well as statewide rankings. And it's no surprise that Hudson Valley schools are on the lists.

The Bedford Road School made the list, at No. 96. Pleasantville's only elementary school, it received A+ grades for teachers, an A for academics and a B- for diversity.

One out of four of New York state's Top 100 elementary schools are local, according to Niche.com. All but one are in Westchester County.

Niche, a website for researching schools, used a variety of factors, including SAT/ACT scores, student-teacher ratio, the quality of colleges students consider and reviews from students and parents for its ranking. Niche assigns a standardized score for each factor, which is then weighted before an overall score is calculated for each school district.
