At its June 24 meeting, the Pleasantville Board of Education adopted a Five Year Strategic Plan, part of the Pleasantville Schools 2026 initiative, that was developed over the past five months by over 130 community members, parents, students, teachers, and administrators. The 61 Action Plans (specific results) in the seven strategies (goals) will be implemented over the next five years. This summer, Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter will meet with the Board, administrators, and curriculum coordinators to create an implementation plan for the 2014-2015 school year. She will present this plan at a Board meeting in the fall. Several of the plans (specific results) are already underway, such as new electives in the High School, a Maker Space project in the Middle School library, and a Drug Free Coalition Grant. Thanks to passage of a capital project referendum held on May 20, technology infrastructure improvements at Bedford Road School and the Middle School and wireless access for all three schools are in the works. In Spring 2015, the Strategic Planning Team will meet to review the year's results and to prepare for year two of the 2014-2019 five year plan.
