PLEASANTVILLE, NY — Due to the upcoming Manville Road construction project, the Pleasantville Farmers Market will be moving slightly — but the biggest change for its many loyal customers may be the parking.

The Market will relocate from the north end to the south end of Memorial Plaza, so it will be closer to Bedford Road than in recent years.

“The Market has been in three locations since its creation, and we’ve always tried to make the best of every situation,” said Steven Bates, Executive Director of Market Operations. “When the Village said we needed to move to accommodate the construction, we started drawing maps to ensure the marketplace will continue to deliver the best experience for our shoppers. This change will take some getting used to, but we’ll have volunteers present to help customers with any questions."

The ongoing Manville Road project will mean parking in the Memorial Plaza lot will now be on the Manville Road side of the Plaza, north of the gazebo. The village will provide parking lot attendants and signage.

However, there are many other options nearby.

“While most shoppers try to get into the Memorial Plaza lot, there are plenty of other choices for parking in Pleasantville,’ said Peter Rogovin, president of Foodchester, Inc., which runs the Market.

As they say on the website, "Parking for the Pleasantville Farmers Market only looks hard. With street parking and seven parking lots – 5 of them FREE – within four blocks of the Market, there are over 400 parking spots nearby. The Manville Road project prioritizes the creation of a safer and more pleasant environment for pedestrians while ensuring traffic flow in the area is not severely affected.

"Looking at how things are shaping up, we’re optimistic that this spring will bring another great market season in Pleasantville," Bates said.

By the way, the market's Saturday hours of 9-11:30 a.m. continue through March 26.
