Pleasantville Mayor's Update — 5 p.m. Sunday

The following is from Pleasantville Mayor Peter Scherer:

CON EDISON

We saw some progress from Con Ed today, with many residents in the Skytop/Summit neighborhood brought back in the very early morning. That allowed us to remove the large generator that was serving a water pump station, which we did this AM as soon as an electrician was available to reconnect the pumps to their normal power.
I communicated our frustrations to Con Ed in two different conversations today. As of mid-day today, they cannot provide any specific schedule for resolving the many remaining outages in Pleasantville. I am promised more specifics Monday morning, and I will forward any news as soon as it arrives. Rest assured that I have made our needs  and collective interests very clear to Con Ed.
The official Con Edison statement is currently unchanged from yesterday. It says that it "expects to restore the vast majority of customers" by the weekend of November 10-11, with "the remaining customer restorations could take an additional week or more."
If you are interested in getting dry ice and can find internet access, check with Con Ed (coned.com) to determine where their program will operate on Monday. Today, they operated from the County Center in White Plains...but locations and hours can change by day.

POLLING PLACES
Some of Pleasantville's normal polling places were still out of power this AM. Con Ed had these sites on a priority list, and the County Board of Elections will be making decisions tomorrow morning about any needed changes in polling places. That will be available from multiple news sources in the County, I will forward info to these lists as received, and we will post any notices in the library and at Village Hall.

VILLAGE SANITATION SCHEDULES will operate on their regular schedules this week, and leaf pick-up will resume. Bundled branches cut down to 4 feet and be put at the curb on your normal yard waste day. Larger tree debris needs to be arranged privately.

GAS SUPPLIES seemed a bit easier today, and (as reported yesterday) the regional emergency managers tell us that shortages are easing and should be resolved within the next couple of days. 

THE WEATHER REPORT calls for an overnight low tonight and tomorrow at about the freezing point...bad news for those without and heat. We are concerned about a possible storm in the forecast for the middle of next week and will keep an eye on it.

MASS TRANSIT
Metro-North and the Bee-Line bus system are back running at close-to-normal levels.
