Pleasantville: Seeking Members For Village Parks And Recreation Advisory Board, Library Board

The Village Board of Trustees would like to invite members of the community to apply for consideration for open positions on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) and the Mount Pleasant Library Board.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board:The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) seeks to promote parks and recreation programs in the Village of Pleasantville by serving in an advisory capacity to the Superintendent of Parks and Recreation and the Village Board. PRAB acts as a liaison between the community and the Village Board on programs, areas, facilities, trees, public relations and other matters pertaining to parks and recreation. The Board reviews recreation programs and events, assesses the upkeep and usage of parks and fields, and advises Board of Trustees on policy issues. Meetings are typically held during select evenings on a quarterly basis.

Mount Pleasant Library Board:This Board oversees the operation of the Mount Pleasant Public Library System, which is jointly owned and funded by the Village of Pleasantville and the Town of Mount Pleasant. The Board establishes policy and budget. Of note is that library is considering a proposed renovation project, potentially resulting in largest investment in the facility in decades. There are 9 members, 4 are appointed by the Village and 4 are appointed by the Town. The 9th member is appointed alternately between the Village and the Town. This position will be up for re-appointment in December of 2024. If re-appointed, the term is for 5 years. The Board meets monthly at the Main Library located at 350 Bedford Road, Pleasantville, NY at 7:00pm.
