Phelps Health Tip:
Eat Apples!
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following tip: "The Iowa Women's Health Study reports, among 34,000 women tracked for nearly 20 years, that apples are associated with lower risk of coronary heart disease and cardiovascular disease. Experts attribute these heart-healthy benefits to antioxidant compounds in apples, which help to prevent LDL cholesterol from oxidizing and inhibit inflammation. Plus, soluble fiber in apples has been shown to lower cholesterol levels as well".
