Please Preorder!

Place preorders from our vendors Tues, 7:00pm – Thurs, 7:00pm. Then walk up Saturday, 9am – 11:30am, to gather preorders and shop further

Tuesday 7:00pm (tonight!) Pleasantville Farmers Market Online (PFM-O) opens, more complete and organized than it has ever been! The Market is kicking off its 2nd outdoor winter season, and its 10th year as a WEEKLY, YEAR-ROUND venue for you to stay connected with the producers you love. (Apologies for the all CAPS but ten years year-round...)

Preorders are key to the Winter Market succeeding and we are willing to do anything to convince you to enjoy the opportunity that is PFM-O. Sharon of Mead Orchards is willing to hold ice cold, fresh cider to her ears (or the market manager's) until you join us. And if necessary, we will have a young fella who ate a waffle in 14 degree temps last winter (aka: the Billy Idol of Waffle) stare at you all morning Saturday if you don't make use of the convenience that is PFM-O...

Ok, not really, the young waffle man was scooped up by talent agencies after Chad Kraus Photo caught his image - so, he's too busy to be at the Market to just stare. But can we be serious?

Can one shop on 12/4 without having preordered?
The answer is "yes!", albeit with these caveats:

  • All products are the same price online and in the Market, but product quantities for walk up shopping can be limited. Producers are only required to display their full offerings online.
  • Some items are not displayed for walk up during winter (Mead Orchards apples) or on the coldest days (tender greens from Gajeski Produce and Maple View Farm) because these products could be damaged. But preorders of these and any items are always kept protected and warm.
  • Preorders help our vendors ensure you get what you're seeking - cause enough, right?
  • The Winter Market aims to help shoppers and vendors get in and get out quickly on Saturdays (because it's COLD!). Therefore, walk up shoppers should be aware that preorder customers are served first as part of the goal to move as many shoppers through the marketplace within reduced hours.

For all (or any) of the above reasons we hope you will make use of PFM-O -- the only complete, market-wide preorder platform, requiring only a single click for payment, in the region. It's our best tool to ensure that Market succeeds for you and your producers all winter.

GIVING TUESDAY?
DONATE AND WE'LL DO THE GIVING BACK!

Last year we established our first annual fundraising campaign. We timed it with the winter season to encourage support for your year-round vendors, and so we could provide relevant thank you gifts to donors such as warm PFM winter hats, and the waiving of PFM-O service fees December - March. Thanks so much if you contributed in this way last winter! This year we're back with a call for support and we again have some fun, complementary thank you items. Donations can be made through PFM-O. Here's the details:

Contribute as a $50 HARVEST HERO to receive:
(collect PFM tote bags any Saturday at Manager's Tent)

  • No PFM-O service fees Dec – Mar ($45 value)
  • A pair of orange reusable PFM shopping bags

Contribute as a WINTER WARRIOR to receive:
(collect items on the upcoming Swag Bag Days of 12/11 or 12/18)

  • No PFM-O service fees Dec – Mar ($45 value)
  • A choice of one item of PFM swag (a pair of orange reusable PFM shopping bags, or a PFM baseball hat, or a PFM winter hat, or a PFM canvas tote bag)

THANKS in advance if you're able to support us in this way - your collaboration helps make a year-round Pleasantville Farmers Market possible. Please note that because the Market is a 501 (c)(4) nonprofit organization, individual contributions are not tax deductible.

ANOTHER WAY TO GIVE: VOTE!

Last year the Market was among over a dozen Pleasantville businesses awarded the honor of “Best of Westchester” by voters in Westchester Magazine’s annual contest. As a community-based service, we’re proud of this feedback as an indication that we’re fulfilling our mission to our community, farms and food artisans.
Now the 2022 “Best of Westchester” first round voting is open. Please take a minute to VOTE TODAY for your favorite farmers market and all local, small businesses that have earned your loyalty.

TO BEGIN use this Best of Westchester link which takes you to the Reader's Ballot to place your vote for a favorite farmers market in two categories: “Farmers Market” (listed as Best Farmers Market (#34) and Best Produce (#62). Then explore the other categories listing other great county-based businesses. Once you have voted, encourage fellow shoppers and family members to vote to help the contest garner more momentum. Thanks for participating!

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Pleasantville Farmers Market remains committed to the health and safety of the whole community, including shoppers, vendors, volunteers, and staff.

Mask wearing for unvaccinated shoppers (including children ages 3 - 12) is required, and all shoppers are requested to maintain physical distancing in the marketplace.

Avoid the Market if you're sick. Especially so if you exhibit any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus (temperature of 100° or above, a cough, a sore throat, shortness of breath). The New York State Department of Health has set up a hotline at (888) 364-3065 where Department of Health experts are available to answer questions regarding COVID-19.

VENDOR HIGHLIGHTS

Maple View Farms is highlighting their mesclun this week - a wonderful blend of all the sweet fresh greens that grow in our winter climate. Grown in unheated high tunnels and sweetened by frosts, Maple View's mesclun features a mix of lesser known but really tasty greens such as miners lettuce, tatsoi, mustard greens, cress and lettuces.

Edenesque is offering a 25% SALE on their cashew milk -- an outrageously delicious plant-based milk, made from 40% nuts, with thoughtfully sourced flavorings like local honey, sustainably grown vanilla, and reverse osmosis water. Producer Leslie Woodward shares, "We’re a black, and woman-owned company that understands the intersecting challenges of climate change, health, food insecurity and justice, and we integrate our values into our business every step of the way, from sourcing and production, to hiring and packaging".

Edgwick Farm is expecting over 100 baby goats this coming January 2022. As their 2021 season winds down this month, their delicious Canterbury soft goat cheeses will run out but they will be offering their hard goat cheeses as well as their holiday specials: sweet or savory cheeseballs and chocolate goat cheese truffles during December. They will be absent during their kidding season early January but back on 1/22 with fresh goat milk, goat-gurt, ri(goat)ta and all their soft goat cheeses. Check out their Facebook and Instagram pages for baby goat photos.

Merchant's Daughter Ciderworks is in this Saturday - give the gift of hard cider this holiday season! Hand-crafted right here in the Hudson Valley, Merchant’s Daughter hard ciders make one of the best ‘drink-local’ presents of the year.

This week Spice Revolution is featuring their Spice Duo gift sets. Each set contains two spice blends wrapped in a plant based compostable bag with a wooden spice spoon. More than a dozen spice combinations to choose from. Check out all the options in PFM-O tonight!

Cooper's Daughter Spirits produces numerous unique distilled items. Their Mulled Peach Whiskey made with real Hudson Valley peaches and NY raw honey. Perfect for hot toddies, sours, and whiskey mules. Mmmmmm...
