Police Allege Heroin-Toting Armonk Man Caused Parkway Crash

He's due in Mount Pleasant Town Court Oct. 29 to answer drug possession and DUI charges.

After a crash on the Sprain Brook Parkway Oct. 21, Justin L. Campanello, 37, of Armonk faces charges of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, both Misdemeanor.

Troopers were dispatched to a two-car auto collision on the Sprain.

After an investigation at the scene they concluded that Campanello, while northbound on the parkway, had failed to maintain his designated lane of travel. He rear-ended another vehicle, then went off the road and came to rest facing southbound.

They concluded that he was impaired by drugs at the time of the crash; and they say they found him in possession of about 4 grams of heroin. A State Police Drug Recognition Expert evaluated Campanello and confirmed that he was impaired by drugs, police said.
