POV DOCUMENTARY: THE CITY DARK: A Film by Ian Cheney

Sunday, December 13 at 2:00 pm at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library.

Is darkness becoming extinct? When filmmaker Ian Cheney moves from rural Maine to New York City and discovers streets awash in light and skies devoid of stars, he embarks on a journey to America’s brightest and darkest corners, asking astronomers, cancer researchers and ecologists what is lost in the glare of city lights. The City Dark provides a fascinating introduction to the science of the dark and an exploration of our relationship to the stars. There will be a discussion of the film after the viewing. This event is a collaboration with POV, PBS’ award-winning nonfiction film series. http://www.pbs.org/pov/ .  Sunday, December 13 at 2:00 pm at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road, Briarcliff Manor NY 10510.  914-941-7072.  www.briarcliffmanorlibrary.org
