Proposed $59.3M Pleasantville School Budget On The Ballot May 16

PLEASANTVILLE, NY — The 2023 budget and school board vote — and library budget in some cases — is May 16, and there will be an uncontested election for Pleasantville Board of Education.

On the ballot: Lucas Cascardo and John Vamossy. Current Trustees Jill Grossman and Angela Vella are not running for re-election.

Pleasantville's proposed spending plan of $59,321,688 is 2.79 percent higher than the current budget. It includes funding for two additional teaching assistant positions at the Bedford Road School and adds a psychologist position and a SEL counselor position.

The tax levy is expected to rise 2.43 percent, which with allowable exemptions falls below the state's tax cap, set at 2 percent for the second straight year.

To be eligible to vote in the Annual Budget Vote and School Board Election on May 16, you must be:

  1. A citizen of the United States;
  2. At least 18 years of age (by May 16, 2023);
  3. A Pleasantville UFSD resident at least 30 days immediately prior to the day of the vote;
  4. Registered with the Westchester County Board of Elections OR registered to vote with the District by no later than May 11.

Registering at the District Office does not register an individual with the Westchester County Board of Elections; however the converse is true.

If you have previously registered and voted in either a school district or general election in the last four calendar years, re-registration is not required. Voters may register online with the New York Department of Motor Vehicles, or by mail through the County Board of Elections or at the Office of the District Clerk.

Registered voters may request an application for an absentee ballot with a request, in writing, to the district clerk. Be sure to include your name and mailing address; also include your email address should you wish to receive the application via email. Be sure to indicate the delivery method (U.S. Post Office or email) in your request.

Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter or the voter’s designated agent.

Absentee ballots must be returned to the District Clerk's Office by 5 p.m. May 16.
