Register Now for Halloween Window Painting

Briarcliff Manor and Pleasantville have opportunities for young artists.

Do you have a young artist at home with a flair for Halloween portraits? Local kids have the chance to express their artistic side by decorating some of the businesses' windows with Halloween themes in Pleasantville and Briarcliff Manor next week. Here are the details:

Briarcliff Manor

The Briarcliff Manor Recreation Department has extended its registration deadline for this year's window painting, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (rain date is Sunday).

"It's primarily the businesses that line either side of Pleasantville Road," said Chris Soi, recreation supervisor. "We utilize their space and we mark out windows with 18x24 templates."

Residents and students in grades two through five are invited to sign up in advance using this registration form.

There is a fee of $15 per single child ($20 for twosomes sharing a single window space) to participate.

Pleasantville

Pleasantville's annual Halloween Window Painting takes place on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (rain date is Sunday) and is open to all residents in grades two through eight.

Debbie Nava of the Pleasantville Recreation Department said the painting takes place "all over Washington Avenue, Wheeler Avenue, Bedford Road and Manville Road."

"We solicit businesses from all over," she explained.

There is a $10 fee to participate, and each young artist will receive a complimentary gift. Register in person at the Recreation Department's offices on the second floor of .
