This Saturday, 7/24 the Market has its first "buy two, donate one" Food Donation Day of the season. Highlighting the generous, weekly donations our farmers make to help eradicate food insecurity in Westchester (over 2000 lbs so far this year), this event provides you the opportunity to buy extra items of fruit, veggies or bread so you can donate too. Representatives will be on hand from the Pleasantville Community Garden (their volunteers collect vendor donations every week) and from Hillside Food Outreach. Shoppers can also use Pleasantville Farmers Market Online to make cash donations to support the Pleasantville Community Garden's collection efforts (funds will be used to purchase veggies from our farms for donation).

Phelps Health Tip:
With fruits in season now Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following tip for a fruit and vegetable wash from author Suzy Scherr's book The Apple Cider Vinegar Companion: "Fill a clean sink halfway with lukewarm water and add 1 cup of apple cider vinegar. Add your fruit and/or vegetables and soak items for about 10 minutes (less time for fragile berries, 2-5 minutes is fine). Then rinse well".
Market Intern Program
The Market is accepting applications from area High School students for the Intern Program. For information inquire at the Manager's Table or email info@pleasantvillefarmersmarket.org.
VENDOR HIGHLIGHTS
Inspired by Food Donation Day, Mead Orchards will have a "buy one, get one free" deal on their yellow peaches this Saturday. If you choose to donate peaches (or any fruit) simply remit to the cashier any items you want to contribute.
To celebrate their 10 year anniversary Spice Revolution has highlighted "30 new spices in 30 days" all July. In this final week look in PFM-O or at their tent as a walk up customer to see what new spices they've added.
Nina White of Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse notes that their Baudolino is perfect now, light in flavor, runny edge, amazing with tomatoes which are now in at the Market.
Dancing Spirits Herbs will be in this week to make their July visit. Stop by to gather some unique vinegars or herbal products.
Edgwick Farm says this is the last week for the seasonal pairings of blueberry (sweet) or scape pesto (savory) with their fresh goat cheese. If you haven't tried one, be sure to stop by their table for a taste. If you are sad to see these seasonal pairings end, pick up an extra one or two and pop in your freezer for later enjoyment (they freeze very well).
Cooper's Daughter Spirits makes a Black Walnut Bourbon by aging it in their own American White Oak barrels and then finishing it in a second barrel that was used to store black walnut syrup tapped from trees at the distillery and surrounding groves. This rare nutty syrup creates an irresistibly smooth and slightly sweet bourbon.
Kriemhild Dairy Farms will be in with their full line of butters (Meadow and flavored ones), creme fraiche, heavy cream, milk and chocolate milk and more.
Kiernan Farm will be absent this Saturday, but if you want to come up to the farm after you've shopped to enjoy their Moosic Fest, you're invited! Bring your friends, lawn chairs or picnic blanket. Sit back, relax and enjoy the food, music, yard games and views. The fun goes on until sundown. For more information or to buy tickets click here.
Brian Gajeski says that Gajeski Produce will have cherry and Beefsteak tomatoes, fresh corn, blueberries, raspberries and black raspberries too.
Head and Heal, from Cortland, New York is licensed by NYS to grow and process hemp for CBD on their farm. This week they're highlighting their Sleep CBN:CBD oil (full spectrum CBD oil with 300mg of CBN added to give you an extra sleepy effect). Take this oil 30 minutes before bed for a restful night of sleep.
Kyle Nisonger of Maple View Farm says, "Our favorite salad this time of year on the farm is a Greek one – cucumber, tomatoes, fresh garlic and onions, oregano, and some feta from Edgwick Farm. You can get all of these at our stand… and make a very short walk across the Market for the feta".
Merchant's Daughter Ciderworks is visiting Saturday with their variety of premium, New York-sourced, hard ciders.

Pango!
The Village of Pleasantville has introduced a smartphone app as an option to pay for all metered and pay station parking in Pleasantville. Download the free PANGO app for iPhone or Android devices, and follow the prompts to set up an account and method of payment. Parking meters have stickers (and QR codes) that indicate the parking zone—and parking lots have signs posted with zone numbers. There is a 16% service fee charged by Pango. The app will deliver a reminder message five minutes before time expires, and (in most locations) time can be extended via the app.
