This Saturday: Food Donation Day!

Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturday, 8:30am – 1:00pm

Food Donation Day This Saturday
In conjunction with the National Farmers Market Coalition's National Farmers Market Week, and the Farmers Market Federation of NY's statewide "Give Back NY" event, the Market is holding a Food Donation Day this Saturday. Buy extra items of bread, fruit or produce Saturday and tell your server you want them donated. Or you can use Pleasantville Farmers Market Online (PFM-O) to make a cash donation to Food Donation Day, which our event partner the Pleasantville Community Garden will use to purchase items Saturday for donation. All donations assist individuals in our region that are food insecure. Food pantries/food donation sites used to accomplish this are Hillside Food Outreach, Neighbors Link, and The Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry. To use PFM-O to donate click here and look for the Food Donation Day as a featured item. (If you're a first time user of Pleasantville Farmers Market Online (PFM-O) you'll be asked to register before beginning). PFM-O stays open until Thursday 2:00pm.

Please participate Saturday with your food or cash donations to help all these organizations in addressing this meaningful cause!

Hours?
The Market is open Saturday from 8:30am to 1:00pm at Memorial Plaza.

Phelps Health Tip:
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "Health experts have emphasized the significance of reducing sodium and increasing potassium levels in the US diet. Sodium intake can be lowered by avoiding processed foods, and by eating more fresh produce. Potassium occurs naturally in items like fresh beets and beet greens, Swiss chard, kohlrabi, mushrooms, radishes and spinach".

Free 2020 Census Shopping Bags ARE In!
We got them out late last Saturday but are on our game for this week. Get your reusable 2020 Census shopping bag as you enter our main entrance Saturday. Then, after toting home your fresh food, if you've not already done so please fill out the census. How's our Village doing? Only 72.7% of residents have filled out the census to date.
UPDATE: Westchester County has been notified that the U.S. Census Bureau will be halting Census 2020 efforts one month early, with operations concluding on September 30. With the new timeframe restrictions in place, it is more important now than ever that all Westchester County families fill out their Census forms.

PFM-O: What's New?

Explore Pleasantville Farmers Market Online (PFM-O) as a way to enjoy contactless shopping, to reserve items to avoid the morning rush, and to enable your Market visit to be brief.

If you are a first time user of PFM-O please register by CLICKING HERE. Then use the same link to login and preorder from participating vendors - you can place orders today until 2:00pm (PFM-O is open each week between Tuesday, 7:00pm and Thursday, 2:00pm).

PFM-O is also a great way to further support your producers. By preordering items and skipping the line at our busiest vendors you can help reduce the length of vendors' walk up lines (to their relief!) and provide them needed revenue during a challenging year.

Which walk up lines can you skip by preordering this week?

  • Campanelli's Poultry Farm
  • Mead Orchards
  • Morgiewicz Produce
  • Orwasher's Bakery
  • Pickle Licious
  • Pura Vida Fisheries
  • Teagevity/BeanLuv
  • Woven Stars Farm
  • Wright's Farm
  • Yellow Bell Farm

You can also preorder from these additional, participating vendors who generally have short or no lines:

  • Demi Olive Oil
  • Chaseholm Farm Creamery
  • Dutch Desserts
  • Forward Roots
  • Hudson River Apiaries
  • Kriemhild Dairy Farms
  • Peanut Principle
  • Pika's Farm Table
  • Red Barn Bakery
  • Rock City Mushrooms
  • Spice Revolution
  • Trotta Foods

How to pick up preordered items?

  • Items ordered on PFM-O are collected at vendor’s tents.
  • All participating vendors have a sign saying “Preorder From Me Online”.
  • In front of vendors that typically lack significant lines "Walk Up Service & Preorder Pick Up" is painted on the pavement. PFM-O shoppers wait briefly with other walk up shoppers to collect their items from these vendors.
  • Vendors having dedicated, sizeable walk up lines display a “Pick Up Preorders Here” sign above a yellow "Preorder Pick Up" box painted on the pavement - at these vendors you can skip the walk up line. Step in the box, then step away quickly after receiving your preorder.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

Masks Are Mandatory & Other Guidelines
Help the Market remain a safe and efficient place to gather food. Masks are required to be worn while at the Market. Please send only one member of the family to shop. If arriving as a couple, bring enough reusable bags so you can splitting up shopping tasks. Do not use the Market at this time as a family outing as we must limit the number of people in the marketplace, and shopping is meant to be brief and purposeful. For more information about COVID-19 protocols for shoppers please click here. Your adherence to these shopping guidelines assists us in keeping the Market open to support residents and vendors alike.

Absolutely avoid the Market if you are sick. Especially so if you exhibit any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus (temperature of 100° or above, a cough, a sore throat, shortness of breath). The New York State Department of Health has set up a hotline at (888) 364-3065 where Department of Health experts are available to answer questions regarding COVID-19.
