Shopping List: Apples for Next Week's Phelps Apple Pie Contest!

Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturday, 8:30am - 1:00pm

The apple harvest is in full swing now, and so is planning for next week's Phelps Annual Apple Pie Contest.

Join in the fun! Adult home bakers, and Junior Chefs under 18, can pre-register for the Contest by emailing info@pleasantvillefarmersmarket.org. Pull out your best all-from-scratch recipe for an apple pie, or apple dessert, and Saturday shop the Pleasantville Farmers Market for apples, butter, spices and more. Mead Orchards and Wright's Farm will have numerous apple varieties to choose from for your pie. The Contest is held on Saturday, October 14 (rain date 10/21). In addition to shopping the fall harvest you can also enjoy so many events Saturday: our Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health is visiting to collect donations for people in Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands affected by recent hurricanes (9:00-12:30) -- more details below. Have questions about creating the perfect pie crust? Cookbook author Suzy Scherr will offer a Pie Crust Demo at the the Culinary Tent (9:30-10:30). Help Phelps Help Puerto Rico

Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health will visit the Pleasantville Farmers Market this Saturday (9:00am -12:30pm) to collect items for Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands impacted by recent hurricanes. Please help Phelps by donating needed supplies for people affected by recent hurricanes. Their logistics partner will assure that all products are delivered expeditiously to those in need.

The Spice Of The Week Is Cinnamon!
