Summer has two weeks left, but these can be some of the best ones. Recent hot weather has kept supplies of summer tomatoes and peppers plentiful, with a bumper crop of color and flavor expected this Saturday at the Pleasantville Farmers Market. Make one last heirloom tomato salad, or grill a batch of gorgeous peppers. Enjoy these while you can as fall’s cool weather will eventually bring the parade of tomatoes and peppers to a close, setting the stage for fall produce, fruits and meats, and fall menus.

This week’s Phelps Health Tip:
To Keep It Healthy, Keep It Simple
“The fewer the ingredients, the more healthful the food. Great advice when it comes to purchasing fresh, seasonal food from regional farms. Tomatoes, peppers, carrots, apples, leafy greens – all just have one ingredient – themselves!”

Two examples: their Eggplant Parmigiana and Vegetable Lasagna, and their Seasonal Eggplant Marinara and Basil Pasta.
Warwick Valley Winery & Black Dirt Distillery
The producers of the critically acclaimed Doc’s Craft Hard Apple Cider are also front and center in our region’s growing farm distillery movement.
