After a cool, damp spring and early summer, our farms have been powered this week with long, sunny, warm days - causing the season to charge ahead in the form of squash, corn, berries, greens, herbs, flowers and more. Some of our vendors have captured summer in a bottle or jar, including Hudson River Apiaries and visiting Tousey Winery. Other vendors have items developed from animals pastured on lush fields such as eggs, cheeses and meats. It's neat to think, as you enjoy the upcoming sunny Saturday at the Pleasantville Farmers Market, that the same sunshine is behind each of the beautiful items available for your week's menu as well.
Visitors to the Market Saturday can enjoy a fun day of musical exploration in our Kids Event area as the Mike Risko Music School is visiting with numerous instruments for children to try out (9:30-11:00). Also there is a Music Series performance by classical guitarist Austin Charnis (10:00-12:00) and our Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health (8:30-12:30) is sending a team of representatives to offer insights on their many services. See you at the Market!

Phelps Health Tip:
Classic Advice: Eat Your Vegetables
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "Based on some estimates, vegetables supply over 50% of vitamins C and A, and much of our B6, magnesium, niacin, thiamin, and iron. Eating a variety of seasonal plant foods, which supply these and many more nutrients, can help reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease."
Using SNAP At The Market
The Pleasantville Farmers Market welcomes shoppers using SNAP EBT. To use SNAP benefits begin at the Manager's Tent, located at the north end of the marketplace.
