Spring Has Sprung: INDOORS!

April showers bring May flowers, but what was that March cold weather for? Battle back with an indoor market that is ready to bloom and grow! Tomorrow Simply Planted Greenhouses (formerly Eden Farms Greenhouses) will make their season debut with beautiful combinations of cold tolerant annuals. They'll have plantings in decorative baskets for the dining room table, or in pots for planting. Stop waiting for spring outside, it has already begun indoors.

Here's a bit more plant news:
In a few weeks Shawangunk Growers will join us to help gardeners get a fast start rejuvenating their garden beds with unique and beautiful perennials. And for those who enjoyed The River Garden's dried and fresh flower arrangements, note that they will rejoin the Pleasantville Farmers Market when it moves outside May 24th.

Chicken And The Egg
Katie Bogdanffy is transitioning from her family's farm (Feather Ridge) to her own Yellow Bell Farm. During this phase, she will produce whole roasters and chicken parts, but establishing egg laying hens will take a bit more time. Beginning this week, and continuing early spring, Katie will send to market beautiful, brown eggs from Jacob Kaufman Farm of Logantown, PA. Last week Yellow Bell Farm provided a classic (and easy) recipe for the Perfect Roasting Chicken. It was so good we're keeping it in the newsletter for another week. Many of the ingredients listed are available at the Market.

When's The Market Moving Outside?

The Market remains indoors all April and half of May, then moves outside after a one week break. Here are some dates to mark in your calendar:
May 10 - LAST INDOOR MARKET of the season
May 17 - MARKET CLOSED for transition
May 24 - OPENING DAY, Market at Memorial Plaza!

What Vendors Are In Tomorrow?
Review vendors in attendance at tomorrow's Market by checking our up-to-date, interactive Map of the Market.

Edible Hudson Valley Magazines Are In
Our Market Interns will be greeting shoppers tomorrow with 180 free Edible Hudson Valley Magazines. Arrive early to get a free magazine, or subscribe by signing up here. This issue has a nice article on cider doughnuts (stop by our vendor Newgate Farms for some very good ones).

Bring Home The Bacon
Stefan's Pure Blends will be making an extra visit tomorrow. Which means, along with Kiernan Farms and Cowberry Crossing Farm, we have 3 great sources for delicious breakfast bacon. Thinking about dinner? Pair that sour cream in the fridge with Stefan's homemade pierogies!

Extra Visits For Healing Home Foods
For a period of time Little Seed Gardens will be absent, while their indoor crops get up to speed. We'll note in our newsletter when they are returning. We are pleased to be able to use the extra space to have Healing Home Foods visit more (weekly for the remainder of March, and for all of April). Based on customer response, we are sure shoppers will be pleased too!

Extra Visits Tomorrow For Many Vendors
Due to March having a 5th Saturday, many Rotation Vendors will make an extra visit tomorrow. In addition to Stefan's, and Healing Home Foods, you can look forward to seeing Drink More Good, Hudson River Apiaries, Spice Revolution, and The Peanut Principle.

Market Opens Every Saturday At 9:00am
Please note that our Indoor Market is open from 9am to 1pm. We thank you in advance for honoring those hours as our vendors need time to prepare for your arrival.
