Star Student Ryan: "A True Leader For All The Right Reasons"
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one who is having an impact in Pleasantville.

PLEASANTVILLE, NY — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Sharon Carpenito who nominated Anthony, a 10th-grader in Pleasantville, known to all as Ryan. Ryan is the Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 12.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Anthony (he goes by Ryan) just earned Life Scout in Troop 12 Pleasantville. Ryan, as a sophomore, is the Senior Patrol Leader of the Troop. He takes this role very seriously. The role is for him to provide guidance to younger scouts and help them succeed in completing their ranks. Ryan goes out of his way and meets with many of the kids outside of regular scout meetings to provide them with the guidance they need to succeed. You can often find him sitting at a Starbucks with a fellow scout any night of the week helping them navigate their scouting journey. Ryan does all of this not because he has to or for any other reason than that he cares. He cares about other people and he cares about making a difference in the lives of these young men. These younger scouts look up to Ryan. Ryan should be recognized because he is a true leader for all of the right reasons. He has a depth of compassion for others that we don't always see. He should be recognized because he is making a difference every day.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Ryan wants others to succeed and wants to help them in any way he can.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future!
