Strawberries Are At Peak

Pleasantville Farmers Market: Saturday 8:30am - 1:00pm

Rain showers and sunshine, along with warmer temperatures, has helped our growing season gain momentum. Saturday the Pleasantville Farmers Market will have delicious, ripe June strawberries as well as a full market of regionally produced, fresh food. There will be fun events too: a “Let’s Talk” event by Market Nutritionist Marina Stopler focuses upon Sustainable Seafood Week, Kat and Greg Nemec help children paint bird houses in our Kids & Families area, and acoustic indie rock band Tumbleweed Mile will provide a great soundtrack for the morning -- rooted in original songwriting and fine guitar playing. To keep on top of over 60 events at the Market throughout the season get to know the website’s Calendar page by clicking here.

Market Nutritionist Marina Stopler will share information about sustainable fisheries and the upcoming Seafood Restaurant Week on June 22 - June 27. Phelps Health Tip
Lead Sponsor Phelps Memorial Hospital Center advises:
“Wild-caught fish tend to have higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids, and when it comes to fat that is one you don’t want to cut back on. Your body needs these fatty acids to function”.

To view a resource listing seafoods highest in omega-3s (less obvious choices are mackerel, squid and scallops) click here“.

Demi Olive Oil’s Ship Has Come In!
John and Demitria Grado of Demi Olive Oil are back this Saturday with extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) produced from olives grown on their farm in Greece. As a highest level EVOO, their oil exceeds expectations for low acidity and for excellent taste. If you’re looking for the most health benefits from your olive oil, EVOO is the place to start. And purchasing olive oil directly from Demi Olive Oil you know your source, and can be assured what you’re buying is fresh and 100% authentic.
