There's just over a week remaining in the 1st round of the 2023 BEST OF WESTCHESTER contest.

Please participate by voting for the small businesses that make the Village of Pleasantville and Westchester County such a great place to live and work!

Love the Market? We hope you'll consider casting a vote for Pleasantville Farmers Market in two categories:
Best Farmers Market and Best Produce.

How to place votes?

Find out what's happening in Pleasantville-Briarcliff Manorfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

  1. Use this Best of Westchester link, to begin at the Reader's Ballot for "Food: Shops".
  2. That's where you can type in Pleasantville Farmers Market as Best Farmers Market, and Best Produce.
  3. Also, explore other entries and ballot categories so you can nominate additional local businesses.

Note: the Contest platform briefly interrupts voting as you begin with a pop up registration page.

When recognized as the Best, the Market benefits from increased visibility and visitation. That supports your favorite farmers and food artisans -- and helps us to know Pleasantville's volunteer-driven, community-based approach is working for our customers too.

They also contain less salt than processed cheeses, and none of the dyes, preservatives, stabilizers and other unnecessary ingredients found in more conventional cheese products".

VENDOR HIGHLIGHTS

What can a farmers market provide you in January? Use PFM-O to answer that question -- it lists ALL products from ALL vendors in the Pleasantville Farmers Market (and offers one-click-to-pay convenience).

The Playoffs are here and we have two farms, each outstanding in their field(s), highlighting delicious fun with chicken wings:

  • Woven Stars Farm has a 20% off SALE on chicken wings from their pastured flock this week. 6 packs are $4.80/lb (reg. $6.00/lb). Their whole wings (including wingettes, drumettes, and wing tips) are great roasted in the oven, smoked, grilled, or used to make extra flavorful stock or gravy. They're rich in collagen, full of immune system-supporting essential minerals, and high in protein -- while very low in carbs.
  • SOVA Farm's Certified Organic, pastured birds produce incredibly meaty wings, are sold as an 8 pack, and this week they're discounted 15% to $5.50/lb. Farmer Ed McNamara prefers to keep things simple (a little olive oil, salt and pepper, and roasted in the oven for 40 minutes at 400 degrees), but he shares this link with a bunch of recipes from the Food Network if you want to jazz things up!

Forward Roots is in with their small batch, naturally fermented kimchi products.

Spice Revolution is back this week. Check out all their spices in PFM-O. Stop by to chat with Linzi Saturday for ideas to spice up 2023.

Bombay Chutney Company will visit with their frozen meals items, excellent simmer sauces and versatile chutneys. Add some flavor to your winter meals with Bombay's help. They encourage preorders to ensure you get what you are seeking.

Mead Orchards has crisp apples, rich squash, fresh cider and more!

It was last year when we saw them last: Manor Sangria (sangria!) and Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery (gin, bourbon, cordials, hard ciders and wines!) are both back with their unique products this week.

Maple View Farm now offers a "Farmer's Choice Bag" which offers a bulk discount on 7-9 items of seasonal produce selected for you from a variety of roots, greens, and herbs.

Strudel House will be in this week. Then they take an extended break to visit family in Europe, so stock up on your strudel!

Pura Vida Fisheries uses its fresh seafood to create soups and other convenient items each week. Pick some up while gathering fish for the week.

Gajeski Produce has their PFM-O store loaded with items for your weeks meals, whether fresh greens or cellared roots veggies. Preordering makes for an easy and fast pick up at the Market.

Our new family farm, Hilly Acres Farm, has you covered for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfasts they’ve fresh brown eggs, breakfast sausage, breakfast ham, and three nitrate-free bacons (regular, cottage or Canadian). For lunch try beef patties, no-nitrate pork hot dogs, or delicious pork sausages. At dinner they've chicken, turkey, pork roasts, beef roasts or several different beef steaks.

Conant Valley Jams is now offering their excellent, fruit-forward jams and marmalades in two ways: $12 for a 8oz jar packaged with artistic fabric and ribbon, or $11 for a simpler labeled jar. Look for the drop down menu in PFM-O to select which option you prefer.

New wheat-free baker Bohemian Baked is back this week (they visit on the 2nd & 4th Saturday of each month). Check out PFM-O, or stop by the Market, to shop for their wheat free, dairy free and vegan baked goods -- from breads to cupcakes and everything in between.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Metered Parking in Plaza lot:
The Village of Pleasantville's Memorial Plaza parking lot requires payment on Saturdays. The Village's Pango smartphone app and two pay stations are available to make payment for Plaza lot parking and metered street side spaces. Have your license plate number when making payment. For the most convenient way to pay, download the free Pango app today and follow the prompts to set up an account and method of payment. If you prefer free parking get to know the "hidden parking lots of P'ville" (6 out of 9 lots are free) by clicking here.

Avoid the Market if you're sick.
Especially so if you exhibit any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus (temperature of 100° or above, a cough, a sore throat, shortness of breath).

Market Bucks:
Any Market Bucks you have from our spring/summer/fall season can be used throughout the winter with any vendor. We do pause providing new Market Bucks until April when our Manager's Tent returns. Note: vendors take credit cards for purchases and accept cash of course -- easiest of all, avoid payment at the Market by preordering.

Using SNAP at the Market:
The Pleasantville Farmers Market welcomes shoppers using SNAP EBT. To use SNAP benefits during winter locate the Market Manager who will help you redeem your benefits as tokens. And THANKS to a generous grant from our local hospitals, Phelps Hospital and Northern Westchester Hospital, both part of the Market's Lead Sponsor Northwell Health, you'll receive 40% more value as "Bonus Bucks", enhancing your ability to purchase nutritious, farm fresh foods for you and your family.
