Summer, Thanks For Providing A Great Fall!

Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturday, 8:30am - 1:00pm

Wish summer never left? Well, this Saturday fall will deliver absolutely gorgeous, summer weather. And the Pleasantville Farmers Market will Rock n' Roll into fall with a performance by acoustic rock band Skyfactor (10:00am - 12:00pm). So enjoy great music outdoors, eat perfect falafel and stir fry, shop for fresh foods at the intersection of the summer and fall harvests, and bring the kids to learn chess from scholastic chess instructor Anatoly Tubman in the Kids area (9:30am - 11:00am). Saturday you can also pre-register for the upcoming Phelps Annual Apple Pie Contest, held this year on 10/14 (rain date 10/21). To pre-register stop by the Manager's Tent or email info@pleasantvillefarmersmarket.org.

Fall fruits and vegetables, cheeses and meats from pastured animals -- all depend upon a long season of healthy soil, dedicated farmers and some luck with the weather. With summer officially behind us, toast the success of the outgoing season, which made the incoming one so delicious, with a glass of wine from visiting Tousey Winery. Gather some artisanal cheeses and Market bread, summer sweet corn, winter squash, and crisp apples for your week's menu. With beautiful weather predicted, fire up the grill, invite some friends over, and truly savor this first weekend of fall meals.

Phelps Health Tip:

Take Advantage of Apple Cider Vinegar

Related Saturday's visit by Dancing Spirits Herbs (with their diverse line of vinegars), Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following tip: "Apple cider vinegar (ACV) contains acetic acid, vitamin C, and B vitamins. Acetic acid can increase the body’s absorption of important minerals from the foods we eat. Several studies have shown ACV consumption in patients with Type 2 diabetes improved their blood sugar control, insulin levels, and high triglyceride levels".
