Tails Wag at Marmaduke Pet Reading

Area writers and their pets come together in Pleasantville.

With a fireplace roaring in the basement of the Marmaduke Foster House, more than forty humans (and canines) headed down the stairs to listen and share stories about animal companions. The Pet Tales event was the third reading facilitated by the , a collective of Westchester based writers who use the space for literature events and as a getaway to focus on their writing.

The themed event was held this past Tuesday, but came to fruition after numerous writers from Marmaduke had their pet stories accepted into a recent pet-themed issue of Westchester Magazine.

The evening began with dogs socializing along with their owners, who enjoyed a spread of wine and cheese. Making sure the dogs didn't feel left out, James Minzesheimer made a cake for the pups to chomp down after the reading too.

The event was hosted by Warren Berger, one of the founding members of the organization. The night featured writers of eclectic styles from humorous takes on dogs and cats to more profound interpretations of growing up around animals.

The general public is welcomed to reading events at Marmaduke Writing Factory. For more information you can visit its website here.
