PFM-O Pro Tip:
New pops producer Puras Paletas offers insulated bags in their PFM-Online store so shoppers can be equipped to collect pops (and a free ice pack) to take home to the freezer.
Phelps Health Tip:
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "An apple a day may indeed help keep you out of the doctor’s office, and scientists are just beginning to find out why. Plenty of vitamins and minerals, as well as phytonutrients, are packed into one baseball-sized piece of fruit. Considerable research is currently centered on the role of phytonutrients that act as antioxidants, which are found in many fruits, red wine and tea. Antioxidants counteract chemicals in the blood that oxidize, or damage, certain molecules. Flavonoids are the most common group of phytonutrients in foods. Apples are particularly high in one of the flavonoids called quercetin, which has high antioxidant activity".

VENDOR HIGHLIGHTS
Unless otherwise noted, the producers highlighted below have products available for preorder through Pleasantville Farmers Market Online (Tuesday, 7pm - Thursday, 7pm).
Pika's Farm Table arrives each Saturday with delicious quiches, soups, side dishes and appetizers for your week's menu. And they create authentic Liège waffles (yeast-based and containing caramelized chunks of pearl sugar, they're perfect for breakfast or dessert or a quick bite at the Market).
Melissa's Health Hub is in (they visit now on the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of each month). Melissa will have her cold-pressed juices and healthy snack chips. In fact she's added new chip flavors including NEW Okra chips.
Little Seed Gardens is giving a shout out to the arrival of fall squash. With summer squash wrapping up, shoppers can expect to see fall favorites such as Butternut, Honeynut (smaller version of Butternut with a rich, sweet, nutty flavor), Autumn Frost (specialty Butternut, creamy and mild), Delicata (a Little Seed favorite, super sweet, caramelizes nicely when baked, great sauteed), and Acorn squash (more mild and savory than Butternuts).
New weekly vendor Edenesque produces dairy-free nut and oat milks without preservatives, additives, or mystery ingredients. Their nut milks are made with 40% nuts so they're nutrient dense, and their oat milk is produced with NYS oats. Offerings include unsweetened and delicious flavored options.
Spice Revolution is featuring favorite Autumn spices including cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, ground cinnamon, NEW secret cinnamon and more. Check them all out in PFM-O!
New weekly vendor Puras Paletas produces small batch creamy and fruit-based ice pops with natural, unprocessed ingredients, organic and locally sourced whenever possible, and free of corn syrup. Flavors include watermelon lemonade, strawberry mango, and chocolate banana.
Simply Planted Greenhouses is in with beautiful mums, drop-and grows, 14" planters, 5" pots with late season annuals, and 1/2 bushel fall baskets for the deck or to hang up. (Walk up service only)
Kiernan Farms has discounts on pork nitrate-free smoked shoulder bacon at $14.50/lb (reg. $16.50/lb). They have discounted their beef sirloin steaks too, at $19.75/lb (reg. $22.50/lb). And if you buy 5 one pound packages of ground beef at $11.75/lb, get $10.00 off the total.
With fall's arrival, Edgwick Farm has new seasonal pairings with its Canterbury soft goat cheese. The sweet pairing, Pumpkin Spice Canterbury, is goat cheese mixed with a fresh, pumpkin compote, a touch of honey and pumpkin pie spices (like the best pumpkin cheesecake you've ever had!). The savory pairing is with classic everything bagel seasoning.
Whitecliff Vineyards will highlight two major award winning wines on Saturday - stop by for a sample. Their Merlot Malbec blend won Gold at the San Francisco International Wine Competition, and their Reserve Chardonnay won both Best Chardonnay in Show at the Atlantic Seaboard Competition (which includes wines from Maine to Florida), and a unanimous Double Gold at the Hudson Valley Wine Competition. These two are classic, complex dry wines that can turn any meal into a special occasion.
Woven Stars Farm is featuring their lamb leg steaks. Lamb leg steaks are a tender, quick cooking steak perfect for both the grill and stove top. Just cook each steak a few minutes per side and add garlic, rosemary, salt and pepper.
Margery of Conant Valley Jams says she is introducing a NEW Fig & Mandarin Jam this Saturday that is great with cheeses. Yum!
Wildcraft Farms will be in the grains and popcorn you've come to know AND this week they'll also have just harvested rye flour and rye berries. We're so lucky to have these excellent grains!
