Community Corner

Thanks for Helping us to be the Best

We're very appreciative of the teamwork it took for the Pleasantville Farmers Market to be voted the BEST every year since 2014!

Pleasantville Farmers Market has been voted Best of Westchester for a 10th year in a row due to the teamwork of all involved:

  • Our farmers and food artisans are incredibly dedicated to their role in providing healthful food for our community, year-round.
  • Our shoppers dependably shop for their families each week while supporting these regional producers.
  • Pleasantville's municipal leaders and staff, local Chamber, and Sponsors provide key support.
  • And our staff and volunteers provide untold hours to ensure this complex event succeeds each week.

Thanks to all of you for contributing to the Market so it can provide its best, every week, every year.

This week shop from our farmers' early summer harvest and our food artisans offerings to prepare for a delicious 4th of July holiday weekend. The Market also has fun events including: the Pleasantville Music Festival and the Alzheimer's Association tabling (8:30 - 12:15), BringtheHoopla will offer kids hula-fun in the grass area near the Market's main entrance (9:30-11:00), and our Music Series performance is by singer-songwriter Jen Fischer (10:30 - 12:30).

PFMO CLOSURE
AFTER 7/1

Thank you for using PFMO. Since March 14, 2020 you've worked with Foodchester, and its farmers and food artisans, to ensure the Pleasantville Farmers Market remained active and vital each Saturday. Your adoption of PFMO was key. Now the added time and cost to support the online platform each week by Market staff and vendors is no longer needed to serve the conditions of a pandemic, and this is the final week PFMO will be active for online shopping. Our farms and food artisans are seeking to stay connected with you in this next phase -- please continue to shop directly for your week's meals, and as some producers develop the option to preorder we will share that information.

BIG SNAP UPDATE!

Visit Pleasantville Farmers Market and double your SNAP dollars! The Pleasantville Farmers Market happily accepts SNAP/EBT benefits -- and now you can double your SNAP dollars (up to $40) thanks to a generous grant from our local hospitals, Phelps Hospital and Northern Westchester Hospital, both part of the Market's Lead Sponsor Northwell Health. Simply bring your SNAP card to the Managers Tent at the entrance to the Market where we can swipe your card to exchange the amount of benefits you wish to use as $1 or $5 SNAP Market coins. For every dollar you redeem (up to $40), you will receive two dollars in SNAP Market coins. These coins are accepted at any Market vendor displaying our green SNAP signage.

VENDOR HIGHLIGHTS

Both Fjord Vineyards and Cooper's Daughter Spirits are in this Saturday with their regionally produced wines and distilled items.

Little Seed Gardens is confirming summer and July have arrived: they now have baby zucchini and yellow summer squash.

Kriemhild Dairy Farms will be at the Market this Saturday with lots of delicious Meadow Butter, flavored butters, milk and chocolate milk, and after being out of stock for several weeks, Creme Fraiche is back.

Woven Stars Farm has fresh chicken this week: whole roasters, boneless breasts, thighs, drumsticks, wings, necks, livers, soup parts and more.

Conant Valley Jams is back with preserves that say "summer": peach, white peach, apricot and nectarine.

Mead Orchards and Wright's Farm have sweet cherries this week.

Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse starts producing cheeses in the spring -- and those need at least 60 days to age. Bobolink can finally report that the cheeses made in April are starting to arrive. They'll have a supply of Drumm and delicious Baudolino this week.

Hilly Acres Farm will have a great variety of beef steaks and pork items for the grill. They also have whole or half chickens and parts, and fresh brown eggs.

Trotta Foods has taken their original pasta recipe to the next level with the savory flavor of dried Porcini mushrooms. This pasta is best paired with a simple sauce that lets the flavors really shine through. Delicious with sage and butter!

Spice Revolution is featuring spice favorites for Fourth of July grilling including Chili Powder Medium, Trinidad Ginger Garlic Magic, Tiger Spice and many more!

Noble Pies is highlighting their Strawberry Cream Pie saying, "It's like a strawberry shortcake but even better as a pie." Try their Grandmother Fowlers 100+ year old vanilla cream recipe mixed with fresh cut strawberries and fresh whipped cream around the edges, all in their signature all butter crust.
