I had the chance to stop by Britt's garden yesterday. A devoted long-time member of the Briarcliff Manor Garden Club, Britt has an intimate relationship with her garden. She spends hours weeding, dividing her plants and bringing in new perennials and annuals on schedule. Britt has a talent for mixing colors, textures and patterns in her garden. Her show of hostas is an abundant array of various specimens. Britt's garden is highly fenced, so deer never walk her grounds. Although she did mention to me yesterday, that she had met up in the quiet, early morning hours, with a ground hog, while she was planting. He looked at her and she looked at him. He decided to continue digging his tunnel on the other side of the fence and she continued planting on her side!
The sweet air greeted me, as soon as I opened my car door. Mary's garden has a varied selection of lilacs, now in bloom. Lilac flowers in white, violet, blue, true lilac, pink, magenta and purple. Some named Angel White, Boomerang, Congo Deep-Wine Red, French, Common Purple, and True Lilac. Her Fuller Road property is a favorite pass-by for runners, who jog and inhale deep, sweet breaths while sprinting by.
