Thieves Tag-Team Pleasantville Homeowners

They pretended to be official and spooked the couple about expensive repairs for Con Ed as a distraction, police said.

PLEASANTVILLE, NY — Pleasantville police are investigating a theft that took place while two confederates were fooling the homeowners. The two people who visited a home on Mountain Road Wednesday claimed to be a representative of a contracting company and a subcontractor for Con Edison.

Both of them made statements to the victim about large-scale problems with his home that would need to be resolved with a great deal of money and time.

The homeowner and his wife attempted to remain with both individuals during their time on the property, however, shortly after both of the individuals left, it was discovered that jewelry was missing from the home.
