Todd Trots and Tangoes for Turkey Day

Connecting Thankgiving and health

From the Briarcliff schools

Todd Elementary School’s Wellness Committee challenged students to be active during recess on Nov. 21 by hosting the first annual Turkey Trot and Turkey Tango.

Kindergarten, first- and second-graders had the chance to participate in a group cha cha slide dance, followed by a freeze dance, during recess as part of the Turkey Tango. Wellness Committee volunteers passed out blue and orange beads to students for the festive dances.

Third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students gathered during their recess periods for a Turkey Trot around the field, with each participant receiving a medal and water after a leisurely jog.

The initiative promoted exercise, healthy habits and overall wellness to Todd students.
