Todd Welcomes New Principal Mrs. Colleen O'Neill-Mangan
She was appointed at the board of education meeting on June 18 and will take her new post on July 1.
The Briarcliff Union Free School District is pleased to announce that the Board has accepted Dr. James Kaishian’s recommendation to appoint Colleen O’Neill-Mangan as the next Principal of Todd Elementary School, effective July 1, 2018.
Mrs. O’Neill-Mangan currently is the Assistant Principal at Fox Meadow Elementary School, part of the Scarsdale Public Schools, where she has served since 2006. She brings a wealth of experience as a school leader, especially in the areas of curriculum and instruction, scheduling and planning, building health and safety, and parent and student relations. In her role as assistant principal, she has served as the District Facilitator of English Language Arts (ELA) Curriculum, and District 3-5 ELA Testing Coordinator, served as co-chair of the Child-Study Team, actively participated in the Building Emergency Response Team and Safety Committees, and collaborated closely with both Scarsdale First Responders, local elected officials and the PTA.
"Our search for Mrs. McDermott’s successor was extensive. Our commitment to finding a principal for Todd required two rounds of resume collections and preliminary interviews during which we were presented with many highly- qualified candidates. Through this thoughtful process, it became clear that Mrs. O’Neill-Mangan is the right candidate for Todd," said Dr. Kaishian. "Her experience as an elementary school teacher and educational leader, her open and approachable demeanor, dedication and enthusiasm for teaching and learning appealed to those who met and interviewed her. It is my pleasure to recommend Mrs. O’Neill-Mangan's appointment, and I believe the Todd community will be in good hands for years to come.”
The comprehensive screening process included interviews with Dr. Kaishian and members of the administrative team, as well as parents, staff, teachers, and building level leaders.

Mrs. O’Neill-Mangan 's colleagues and supervisors described her as a "humble yet determined school leader with the ability to inspire students and staff while also ensuring that the trains ran on time." They also praised her for her compassion, work ethic and relationships with students, parents and the school community.”
Members participating on the search committee said that "We are thankful for Mrs. McDermott’s many years of service to the Briarcliff Schools” and “we look forward to many good years ahead with Mrs. O’Neill-Mangan as Todd’s new principal."
Mrs. O’Neill-Mangan said that she is excited to join the Todd Community. "As a life- long resident and educator in Westchester, I consistently hear wonderful things about Todd Elementary School and all the Briarcliff Schools. I am both humbled and eager to be a part of this extraordinary school district," said Mrs. O’Neill-Mangan. "Throughout the interview process it became clear that Briarcliff is a district that is dedicated to developing the whole child while providing academic experiences that are rigorous, meaningful, and address their social- emotional needs. I look forward to partnering with Ms. Jacobs, the administration, staff, students, parents and community members so that we may continue the great work at Todd School.”

Prior to her tenure as an assistant principal, Mrs. O’Neill-Mangan served in various classroom teacher roles in the Yorktown Central School District including kindergarten, first grade and multiage first/second grade classes, as well as in an Enrichment Specialist position. Mrs. O’Neill-Mangan holds a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership, Administration and Policy and a Masters of Science in Early Childhood Education both from Fordham University, and a B.S. in Behavioral Science with a Minor in Elementary Education from Mercy College.
