Trump, Briarcliff Manor Fight over Flood Damage Bill

Trump National Golf Club doesn't want to pay. The club has also demanded a tax reduction that could cost the village far more.

Donald Trump and the village of Briarcliff Manor are fighting in court over $238,000 that officials say the Trump National Golf Club Westchester owes the village over flood damage, according to The Journal News.

Tax Watch columnist David McKay Wilson reports that the damage was caused to Law Memorial Park in 2011. The park is downhill from Trump’s course.

“Trump has fought back, saying the bill came in retaliation for his criticism of the former Briarcliff mayor’s construction company, which ran up a hefty bill building NYC’s Ferry Point public course that Trump now manages,” Wilson said on Facebook.

They’re in state Supreme Court.

Trump’s lawyers attacked the village on another front in June. They’ve filed for a 90 percent reduction in the assessed value of the club, which would deprive the village and the Briarcliff school district of hundreds of thousands in taxes each year.
