Trump, Clinton Twitter Flare-Up Originated in Pleasantville Bookstore

There's one thing they can agree on.

PLEASANTVILLE, NY — Tuesday's short, sharp Twitter war between Donald Trump and Bill Clinton had its origin in a cutting remark Clinton made at a local bookshop that apparently went viral via a local paper, the Bedford Record Review.

The President-elect has a home in Bedford. Clinton lives in Chappaqua.

In response to a question, Clinton said he didn't think Trump knew much, but that he knew “how to get angry, white men to vote for him."

Conservatives such as Ann Coulter had a lot to say about that, according to BizPac Review. Then Trump struck back.

Clinton's comments were made as he talked to people at a Pleasantville bookstore, according to the Record Review. "Local independent bookstores are wonderful places to talk to neighbors, browse new titles and catch up on a little politics. Just ask Bill Clinton," its front-page column on the event starts.

The impromptu discussion on the election started spontaneously as he bought some books. "In the book-filled oasis, where knowledge and facts and history were recorded and analyzed, the former president was in his element," the column said. He weighed in on several issues. "His message: stay vigilant, stay alert, we need to see where this changing political reality takes us."

The listener and column writer was Ed Baum, the Record Review's editor, according to the Bedford Daily Voice.
