Two BHS Debate Teams Make It To Finals

Oliver Benson, team president, ends four years on the team on a high note!

Throughout the Fall and Winter, Briarcliff High School students competed in Westchester and Rockland against other high school debate teams in categories including prose, poetry, impromptu, dramatic monologue and original oration.

In their final event for this year, held last week at Nanuet High School, BHS showcased their oratory skills against 12 teams from 6 schools and BOTH teams made it to the finals. Oliver Benson, Andrew Sugrue, and John Hansley finished 5th and Christopher Arroyo, Gil Halevi, and Julia Hoyer finished 4th (Pictured Left to right with Advisor Samantha Fishman in the middle).

Samantha Fishman commented on a wonderful season saying, "Congratulations to all members of the BHS Debate Team, both teams that competed at Nanuet High School, and especially to Oliver Benson for being the team president and a participant for all four years of high school."
