UPDATE: Region's First Responders Called to Deadly Taconic Parkway Crash

NYPD got help from Yorktown, Millwood, Lake Mohegan, Mount Kisco, Ossining, Peekskill, Somers, Cortlandt, Mount Pleasant and the county.

New York State Police responded to a four-car collision on the southbound side of the Taconic State Parkway, just north of Baldwin Road, at 2:50 p.m. Saturday.

Police said a BMW sport utility vehicle was traveling northbound when it exited the roadway into the center median, struck an earth embankment, and became airborne into the southbound lanes. The BMW struck two southbound vehicles, and a third southbound vehicle was also involved in the collision.

There are three confirmed fatalities, police said. Also, one person is listed in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center, five people are listed in stable condition at Westchester Medical Center, and two were treated and released from Hudson Valley Hospital.

The names of the victims will be released pending notification of next of kin, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The parkway was closed for hours during the investigation of the scene.

The State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact SP Hawthorne Bureau of Criminal Investigation by calling (914) 742-6400.
