Valentine's Day Search Leads to Child Porn Charges for Briarcliff Manor Man

His hard drives contained a lot of evidence, according to the DA. BREAKING

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY — Local resident Anupam Biswas was arraigned Wednesday in Briarcliff Village Court on child porn charges.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. said in the announcement that a search warrant was executed at Biswas' home at 48 Briarbrook Drive on Feb 14.

Two external hard drives were removed by investigators. An examination of those hard drives revealed thousands of images containing images of children under the age of 17 engaged in sexual performances and obscene acts.

The 45-year-old, who is employed in the IT department of a foreign bank in Newark, New Jersey, was arrested today at his home. Investigators with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office were assisted by the Village of Briarcliff Manor Police, Scarpino said.

Biswas pleaded not guilty to two charges: one count of Promoting An Obscene Sexual Performance By a Child, a class “D” Felony, and one count of Possessing An Obscene Sexual Performance By a Child, a class “E” Felony.

Bail was set at $20,000 bond/$10,000 cash. He faces seven years in state prison.

His next court date is March 8. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michael Delohery, Chief of the High Technology Crime Bureau.
