Victim, Driver In Deadly, Wrong-Way, Head-On Taconic Collision Identified By New York State Police
An Infiniti was being driven by an off-duty NYPD member in Westchester County, when it struck a Toyota, according to NYSP.
MOUNT PLEASANT, NY — Authorities have released information about the victims of a deadly head-on crash in the Hudson Valley.
The New York State Police say that on Thursday, around 11:39 p.m., troopers from Hawthorne responded to the northbound Taconic State Parkway, near mile marker 3.7, in the Town of Mount Pleasant, after receiving a report of a wrong-way collision.
An initial investigation found that a 2021 Infiniti driven by 47-year-old Tiffany P. Howell, of Warwick, was traveling south in the northbound lanes when it struck a 2024 Toyota driven by 61-year-old Manuel Boitel, of Peekskill, head-on.

Boitel was taken to Westchester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Howell was also transported to Westchester Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

State police say that Howell is a member of the NYPD and was off duty at the time of the collision. As required by NYS law, the New York State Attorney General's Office has been notified of the incident.
State police said the investigation is ongoing, and anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the New York State Police Hawthorne Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 914-742-6057.
