Vigil Held In Valhalla For National Nurses Day

The purpose of the event was to honor all nurses, and patients, affected by the new coronavirus public health emergency.

VALHALLA — Nurses gathered in front of Westchester Medical Center for a candlelight vigil on National Nurses’ Day to honor healthcare workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nurses and healthcare workers across the state and country have been risking their lives treating COVID-19 patients with limited personal protective equipment and other critical resources, said officials of the New York State Nurses Association. "Healthcare workers are on the frontlines of the battle against COVID-19 and need the resources to treat patients, slow the spread of the virus, and protect themselves. The purpose of the event is to honor all nurses, and patients, affected by the COVID public health emergency."

As nurses, they practiced safe social distancing during the event.
