Westchester Children's Association Awarded Grant from Westchester Community Foundation

$20,000 Thousand Will Support New Data Publications

Westchester Children’s Association (WCA) has received a $20,000 grant from the Westchester Community Foundation (WCF). The grant will support the development of new tools to understand data about children and youth in the County.

WCA observed that there were many unique visitors to their “Children By the Numbers” data website, which had become an essential tool for many advocates and policy makers. Even with this resource in place, however, many users were requesting simpler, more actionable presentations about the data. It also became clear that there is a need for interpretive resources to help users better understand the implications of the data.

Westchester Community Foundation stepped in to fund the development of print and web-based resources. It is expected that these interpretive resources will increase understanding of children’s needs by at least 1,000 County residents, and help lay people as well as child service professionals to have a better understanding of how to support the county’s kids.

“Increasingly, data is the foundation for advocacy work of all kinds. Our focus is to improve the lives of the children of Westchester County, and we see our data publications and information as a way that we can support the work of our partners in the field,” said Cora Greenberg, executive director of WCA. “The grant from Westchester Community Foundation will allow us to continue to work on behalf of children, and we are very grateful to have received not just the grant, but the trust of WCF.”

People concerned with the welfare of Westchester’s children are invited to visit WCA’s blog for data-related news about Westchester’s children and related topics, and are encouraged to subscribe to WCA’s email updates to receive announcements of webinar dates and other useful resources.
