Winter Market Plan In Place!
Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturday, 8:30am – 1:00pm

To help customers adapt to the challenges of shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic Pleasantville Farmers Market redesigned its marketplace so that products and shoppers were safely spaced. The Market and its producers also developed Pleasantville Farmers Market Online (PFM-O) as a way for shoppers to get in and out quickly when collecting contact-free purchases.
Throughout the warm summer months we had our eye on winter knowing 1. during the health crisis farmers markets cannot safely operate indoors, and 2. the Market is committed to helping our shoppers and producers continue to support one another year-round.
The solution is now in place with PFM-O. Starting December 5 the Market will shift to a "preorder & pickup" model. December through March customers will place orders online, pay with a single click, and enjoy quick, contact-free pickup on Saturdays. A single, small pickup fee (smaller yet as we're reducing the fee for winter) is applied to a customer's total order to cover the costs of this one-stop-to-shop platform. Though some vendors may have items for spontaneous walk-up purchase, the key to the Winter Market succeeding is the speed and convenience of preordering.

Since collecting preorders is efficient for shoppers, that lessens their time in the cold. Focusing on delivering preorders enables vendors to work a shorter market day (9:00am - 11:30am), and they can avoid the effort of displaying inventory that might freeze. There it is -- a win/win -- provided enough shoppers register and begin using PFM-O.
You don't need to wait until December to try out PFM-O because over 25 farmers and food artisans are already providing their products to shoppers online each week. Please register HERE to receive our weekly PFM-O newsletter, and to be ready to shop the Market's online platform every week, Tuesday, 7:00pm - Thursday, 7:00pm.

Phelps Health Tip:
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "Fresh ginger is in. Research on the health benefits of consuming fresh ginger is ongoing, but shoppers know ginger is a very flavorful addition to meals such as stir fry, which are a quick and healthful way to focus on vegetables in one's diet".

Longer store hours:
Now you can place orders Thursdays (TODAY) until 7:00pm (previously 2:00pm). PFM-O is open each week Tuesday, 7:00pm - Thursday, 7:00pm.
Pleasantville Farmers Market Online (PFM-O) provides a way to enjoy contact-free shopping, reserve items to avoid the morning rush, and to keep your Market visit brief.
If you are a first time user of PFM-O please register by CLICKING HERE. Then use the same link to login and preorder from participating vendors.
How to pick up preordered items?
- Items ordered on PFM-O are collected at vendor’s tents.
- All participating vendors have a sign saying “Preorder From Me Online”.
- In front of vendors that typically lack significant lines "Walk Up Service & Preorder Pick Up" is painted on the pavement. PFM-O shoppers wait briefly with other walk up shoppers to collect their items from these vendors.
- Vendors having dedicated, sizeable walk up lines display a “Pick Up Preorders Here” sign above a yellow "Preorder Pick Up" box painted on the pavement - at these vendors you can skip the walk up line. Step in the box, then step away quickly after receiving your preorder.
PFM-O is also a great way to further support your producers. By preordering items and skipping the line at our busiest vendors you can help reduce the length of vendors' walk up lines (to their relief!) and provide them needed revenue during a challenging year.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
Masks Are Mandatory & Other Guidelines
Help the Market remain a safe and efficient place to gather food. Masks are required to be worn while at the Market. Please send only one member of the family to shop. If arriving as a couple, bring enough reusable bags so you can splitting up shopping tasks. Do not use the Market at this time as a family outing as we must limit the number of people in the marketplace, and shopping is meant to be brief and purposeful. For more information about COVID-19 protocols for shoppers please click here. Your adherence to these shopping guidelines assists us in keeping the Market open to support residents and vendors alike.
Absolutely avoid the Market if you are sick. Especially so if you exhibit any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus (temperature of 100° or above, a cough, a sore throat, shortness of breath). The New York State Department of Health has set up a hotline at (888) 364-3065 where Department of Health experts are available to answer questions regarding COVID-19.
