PLEASANTVILLE, NY — The Manville Corridor Improvement Project will pause until early spring when temperatures allow work to resume.

Pleasantville officials said the temporary halt is due to NYSDOT regulations regarding winter conditions.

"Over the coming weeks the area will be prepped for winter conditions, including the temporary re-striping of the center lane at Washington Avenue/Manville Road to accommodate a wider eastbound turning and passing lane," they said in a note to residents.

The goals of the project are to create a safe and more enjoyable pedestrian experience between Memorial Plaza and Tompkins Avenue and improve pedestrian circulation downtown — all the while ensuring traffic flow through the busy village center is not severely affected.

"It's important to note that the Manville Road Corridor has an accident rate four times that of the New York State average," village officials said on the project webpage.
