Winterizing the Market: We’ll need your help!
Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturday, 8:30am – 1:00pm

Involved in winterizing your home and vehicles for the upcoming season? We hope you will join us in preparing the Pleasantville Farmers Market for the winter too.
For eight prior winters our producers have reliably provided Pleasantville each week with foods of the highest quality, produced by the best methods and handled in the safest manner. Even so, shopper visitation in winter is usually only 1/3 of what one sees in the summer (and this is based on years the Market moved indoors).
That lessened customer volume has always challenged the Market's small businesses with leaner months in revenue. As we've seen in the restaurant industry, you can't always assume your favorites stay in business after a long downturn. Operating the Market outdoors this winter is a new necessity and our producers are hoping you will find their offerings compelling enough when the north winds begin to blow.

We think we have a plan that can offer a great way to shop, shorten hours and guarantee your items are waiting for you each Saturday. And shopping outdoors where masks are required remains one of the safest ways to gather groceries. But we'll need enough shoppers like you to pull things off.
Though this winter presents a new challenge, our shoppers have proved loyal and adaptable all year, which made it possible for the Market to remain open throughout the pandemic since moving outside on March 14.

So please as we move into winter continue to help the Market remain an essential food resource to you and a successful way to sustain the livelihood of our farmers and food artisans. Below you can read in a nutshell how the winter market will work, and this Saturday we'll have many volunteers available to answer any questions.
Please note our upcoming schedule:

- November 28: Market closed
- December 5: first winter market day

Phelps Health Tip:
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "Kale is an excellent source of beta-carotene, vitamins C and K, as well as a healthy dose of calcium. Something many people don't know is that the leaves of vegetables are richest in nutrient content. The darker the leaves, the greater the vitamins and minerals. You can enjoy your kale many ways including raw, braised, sauteed, or in a soup."
Valley Table Magazines Are In
We'll have complementary November-December issues of The Valley Table magazine to hand out at the south entrance this Saturday (while supplies last).
