You Picked It: Lucio's is Pleasantville's Favorite Pizza

Patch readers choose their favorite pizzeria in town.

The votes are in—according to , is Pleasantville's and Briarcliff Manor's favorite pizzeria.

With more than 300 total voters in the October 14 poll, Lucio's was the clear winner with 38 percent, or 125, of the votes.

And Lucio Rocca, co-owner of the Washington Avenue favorite, isn't surprised by the results.

"We are a very friendly pizzeria—we get involved with the community and we have a positive attitude," said the Carmel resident.

Rocca and his brother Tommy opened Lucio's in 1994, choosing Pleasantville because "it's a great community," said Rocca.

They immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1984 and liked the challenge of opening their own shop and serving quality food to grateful locals.

Patrick Consig, a regular Lucio's patron who said he's known Rocca for 18 years, said, "He's a great guy."

And it's not just the friendly attitude at Lucio's that makes it a standout in Pleasantville and beyond, he shared.

"The quality of the food is the most important thing," explained Rocca, referencing the fresh tomato sauce, cheese, garlic and other ingredients customers count on day in and day out.

"The crispy crust," noted Consig, is something he always counts on. "He makes it exactly the way you want."

Rita Malvagna said it isn't just the pizza that makes Lucio's a go-to eatery.

"They have great salads, too," she said, while Consig said he regularly enjoys eating the chicken sandwich as well.

While, like most businesses, Rocco said he's felt the pinch of a rough economy, he's confident Lucio's isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

"Business is great," he said. "It's a great community, with great customers."
