PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Sophomore forward Yuni Sher (Poughkeepsie, NY/Long Island Lutheran) was part of the USA Team that won the gold medal at the 19th Maccabiah Games held in Israel from July 17-30. Sher played in the Open Female Division and the USA team defeated host Israel on July 29 for the gold.
The USA team went undefeated in the tournament, defeating Israel in the first game by six points and also went on to post wins over Canada and Australia in the preliminary rounds. In the semi-finals, USA defeated Australia 90-45 and four days later took the gold with a 72-56 win over Israel in the finals. Sher scored 14 points in five games in the tournament.
Sher completed her first season with the Setters in 2012-13, averaging 6.0 points per game and 4.9 rebounds in 27 games played.
