8 Port Chester High School Students Perform in Area All-State Music Festival

High school musicians from Westchester County were selected for the Area All-State Festival based on their audition last spring.

The following announcement is from the Port Chester School District:

Eight students from Port Chester High School participated in the annual New York State School Music Association’s (NYSSMA) Area All-State Music Festival, held at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College, Thursday, November 7, 2014.

High school musicians from Westchester County were selected for the Area All-State Festival based on their audition at last spring’s NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festival. Students attended three rehearsals in the weeks prior to their performance.

Michael Bansey, tenor; sang with the Area All-State Mixed Choir. Elizabeth Montemurro, soprano; and Danielle Winchester,alto; sang with the Area All-State Women’s Choir. Linda Ventura is their school vocal music teacher.

Alfred DiLeo, baritone sax; Isabella Roca, trumpet; and Charles Simmons, trombone; performed with the Area All-State Band. John Montemurro, trombone; and Emmalie Tello, clarinet; performed with the Area All-State Orchestra. Their school band director is Robert Vitti.

The conductors for the various groups were as follows: Dr. James John, Mixed Chorus; Sandra Babb, Women’s Chorus; Lt. Diane Nichols, Band; Yoichi Udagawa, Orchestra.
