FBI Investigating Port Chester Fire Company's Missing $40K

Local police had been looking into the missing money, but then the possibility of foreign involvement surfaced.

PORT CHESTER, NY — The FBI has been called in to help investigate the alleged theft of $40,000 from one of the Port Chester fire companies. The village police department began looking into missing funds from the Putnam Engine and Hose Company in July 2017.

When there was the possibility of overseas involvement, it was decided to turn the investigation over to federal authorities, the Journal News said.

Members of the company said during a July 2017 that its checking accounts had been hacked and all the money had been taken, according to minutes obtained by the Journal News.
